Enough is enough

Yesterday when the thought struck me about the idea of the attack being to create another 9/11 and bringing down the iconic Taj Hotel in Mumbai, my heart skipped a beat.
Standing below the Taj in 1999 while I was still a student I had told my friend, One day I want to stay in this hotel. The thought that this monumental structure would be reduced to rubbles shook me.
This morning I learnt that the idea of the attackers was very much the same. They had come with the determination to recreate the WTC turmoil. They came with the intention of killing at least 5000 people and they had the arms and ammunitions sufficient for this intent. They clearly failed! If the Taj still stands today its all because of the heroic deeds of the NSG and the Army personnel’s. It was the success of the operation “Cyclone” that the Taj has withstood the whole intent of attack. The only terrorist who got caught alive is now held captive told that they had come well prepared to bring the Taj down and did not anticipate the resistance that they got eventually.
While their true motive was sabotaged my heart goes out to the people who however could not make it out from this ill fated hotel . How many would have thought that the dinner at Taj would be their last dinners. There were executives from top companies dining and living in this hotel. The VT station which was attacked must have had so many innocent souls going back to their homes perished.

Investigations so far point to Al-Q’da and Lash’re T being involved. While the former is involved with a fight against the United States of America the later is fighting for Kashmir so its clearly a global war of terror. I am not sure of where this is headed to and how the country and the world is planning to deal with this but I truly feel the need for a strong action against this barbaric act. The worst fear - the politicians should not just get away with making use of this whole incidence for their own political growth and vested interests. They need to understand that the country needs to stand united and fight against this torturous and difficult times. This whole year has made our country and its people so vulnerable. So many bomb blasts through out the year in different cities and then the year ends with the attack on Taj and Trident!
Truly Enough is enough.

Its a national shame that we have a spineless, inefficient govt filled with selfish, self serving politicians who consider it a status symbol to be surrounded by commandos as part of their Z,Z++ or whatever category of security. Sadly, till date no one is held accountable for this tragedy. Not a sigle bereaucrat, intelligence official or the home minister has even offered to resign. Its the very spirit of the Mumbaikars to bounce back that is working against them each time. A hot topic for somedays, and then it vanishes into thin air. Untill and unless we punish who ever we have caught till now, there is nothing that will serve as a deterent. Will our politicians learn ? Do we have a choice ? Is there any alternative ? I dont know.. Enough is Enough.
